True Theta Expectations

Written by TDS National. Posted in Uncategorized

Theta Delta Sigma is a national organization. This means that all of our chapters and members have pledged to live by the values and principles of our ritual. It doesn't matter where the chapter is located or the status of the member, all must meet these expectations. Being a Theta is about more than just wearing letters and attending events.

A True Theta is:

  • Committed to the Society
  • Financially Responsible
  • Scholastically Oriented
  • Socially Acceptable

A Classic Chapter

The Classic Chapter is a reference for what a collegiate Theta Delta Sigma chapter should strive for in the indicated areas. It is intended as a guide and not an evaluative tool. A Classic chapter:

  1. complies with all aspects of the Law of Theta Delta Sigma and holds all members accountable.
  2. adheres to all campus and local policies and procedures
  3. meets all financial obligations and never exceeds 30 days in arrearages.
  4. practices 365-day recruitment and takes new members at least once each academic semester.
  5. operates most effectively and efficiently with 10+ undergraduates.
  6. achieves a GPA higher than the All Undergraduate GPA on campus each semester.
  7. graduates 100% of its undergraduates.
  8. initiates 90% of associates and retains 90% of initiates thru graduation.
  9. organizes at least two global philanthropic service endeavors each school year.
  10. participates in most relevant campus activities/organizations and takes a leadership role in many.
  11. acts responsibly and treats others with dignity and respect.
  12. builds relationships with alumni, families, faculty, and staff.
  13. supports the chapters of Theta Delta Sigma and other fraternal organizations.
  14. lives the ritual and values of Theta Delta Sigma Society, Inc. daily.

Philanthropy & Service Programs

Written by TDS National. Posted in Uncategorized

Inspiring individuals. Impacting the World.

As outlined in our Mission, Theta Delta Sigma “supports the advancement of men and women through… service to the community." Since our founding, Theta Delta Sigma has maintained a commitment to service and has been prompted to develop innovative programs that enhance the communities we serve. This dedication continues to be one of the highlights of our organization and the impact on our communities is powerful.

Theta Delta Sigma works hard to instill in our membership the sense of dedication and commitment through serving and advocating for our communities. Because of the diverse interest of our members, Theta Delta Sigma has purposely decided not to select a specific charitable organization for our philanthopic endeavors but to provide programmatic thrusts that guide the efforts of our chapters. Through these national initiatives, our members understand the importance of citizenship and become better members of our global society. As our membership increases we plan to only increasingly do more for our community. We believe that Theta Delta Sigma Society has one of the strongest and most intense service programs of any comparable organization.

Service-4-YouthSM

Theta Delta Sigma has selected disadvantaged youth as its public service focus. By providing only a public service focus, each chapter and member could support national efforts as they deem fit. Therefore, members of Theta Delta Sigma are involved in a multitude of organizations and causes that support Theta Delta Sigma's public service focus, disadvantaged youth.  Our Founders believed that, by providing aid and assistance to disadvantaged youth, we would be able to empower the youth to do great things and to ultimately make a positive impact on the future.

G.P.S. InitiativeSM

Through the Theta Delta Sigma Global Philanthropic Service (G.P.S.) Initiative, our members are able to make an international impact. Annually, each chapter shall select an international cause and/or charitable organization in which they can dedicate their major fundraising effort. Some chapters may prefer to commit to a cause/organization for multiple years to make the greatest impact.

Additionally, if the institution sponsors international alternative break program, Theta Delta Sigma collegiate members are encouraged to participate to have a unique service experience. Siblings that are selected to go on institution-sponsored trips may be eligible to request financial assistance from Theta Delta Sigma Society, Inc. to help with costs.

President's Volunteer Service Award

Theta Delta Sigma Society, Inc. is an official certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award that was established in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve. The national award program was a way to thank and honor those who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.
